Is a Turkish Holiday exotic? You bet!
It really is East meets West. Turkey, in particular Istanbul
is located on the Bosphourus. A 32km (20 miles) long Strait
running from the Black Sea to the Sea of Marmara. One half
of the city is in Europe and the other half is firmly in Asia.
Kalkan is definitely a Mediterranean town and there is no
denying the town has grown up with this being prominent. It
offers a relaxed unhurried atmosphere where you will be able
to stroll around with out the usual hassle in some towns close
by (Fethiye, Calis beach and Oludeniz/Hisaronu). The evening
competition for restaurants heat up though so some good bargaining
can be had.
While only being a few hours flight from England, Kalkans
location offers a great value break compared to the rest of
Europe. It is not expensive to get here with return flights
from about £80. Once you are here it is very cheap.
There are over 160 restaurants in this small village so I
am sure you will find something to eat. It is possibly the
best value dining in Europe and is fast becoming the gastronomic
delight of the med.
The British have fallen in love with Kalkan and Turkey because
of the value and quality of its tourist attractions. If you
like doing more than just sitting on a beach, you could go
out in the evening to one of Kalkan's many world class restaurants.
Amazing historical sites can be seen on day trips or you could
even hop along to the markets to get those last minute souvenirs
or pick up some "genuine fakes" for yourself or
your friends. |
